Crave Coffee Co is a quick service restaurant concept that was intended to appeal to a broad range of users, from younger tech-savvy individuals to older users who may be less comfortable with kiosk ordering. The main aim was to create a clear and intuitive interface that allows users to quickly and easily place orders.
The initial stage of the project involved research into the typical usability problems that customers and staff experience when using self-service kiosks. This informed the design process and allowed me to identify areas of friction, such as navigation, readability, and interaction, before progressing with the design.
Throughout this process, I continually refined the interface through usability testing. The testing showed points where users were confused or paused, especially in areas of the interface where the visual hierarchy indicated clickable elements that were not clickable. Through adjustments to hierarchy, size, and clarity, these areas of confusion were removed.
The end result is an accessible kiosk interface that is designed to provide an efficient ordering experience and eliminate confusion.
