AIGA DEC is a division of the AIGA professional design organization that supports and empowers design educators. The aim of this project was to provide a more unified brand experience through various touch points and to further develop the brand language and messaging to convey trust, inclusivity, accessibility, and collaboration.
As a team member, I helped develop the brand language and visual direction based on research and conversations with the client. We examined forms, shapes, and pattern systems that responded to the new messaging and further developed a unified brand experience.
In the first round, the client chose my teammate’s overall visual direction but asked me to develop my strategic approach to color, which was to develop the existing color palette in various brand elements to achieve consistency and flow. Through refinement, we combined the best of our ideas to develop a final solution.
The final output consisted of a brand style guide, graphics, and a brand system that would help the organization maintain consistency while also enhancing its voice.
Working with a critical and knowledgeable audience like design educators meant that I had to be flexible and considerate while designing. This experience has helped me improve my skills in accepting feedback and improving design decisions through collaboration.
