Plant-based product system and visual coding
D’avena is a conceptual premium plant-based brand that provides dairy-free alternatives such as milk, butter, creamer, and yogurt. The aim was to develop a premium yet accessible identity that could effectively compete in a plant-based market that was already saturated.
I started by performing a competitive analysis to assess positioning, packaging trends, and visual distinction in the market. From there, I progressed into logo design, refining a series of concepts that eventually fit the brand’s premium, natural personality.
The cohesion of the packaging system was also an important area to address. I began with the milk packaging as the core product, creating a systematic layout and visual system that could be extended to the entire product line. As the system grew, I faced issues with visual coding, where simply using color variation and contrast was not enough to distinguish products effectively across different formats.
To address this issue, I created a secondary identifying system based on pattern and ingredient-driven visual elements. By incorporating subtle pattern variations based on the core ingredient of each product, I was able to enhance recognition while keeping the brand identity consistent.
The final solution is a cohesive packaging system that combines high-end design with effective product differentiation.
